We’ve had a busy few months rolling out our new series of workshops focused on boosting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in workplaces, making a real difference for those involved and the feedback we have been getting from our participants has been fantastic.
These workshops, like “Final Push” and “The Bridge,” are all about getting people to think differently, engage more, and help build inclusive environments. Here’s a peek at what they’re about:
Final Push: We have been delivering this workshop for clients across the construction sector, with the endorsement of the Construction Industry Federation. It tackles essential topics like clear communication, planning, safe supervision, and leading by example to foster safe behaviour. It also dives into discussions on dignity, respect, and equality for everyone on site.
Key takeaways:
- Learn what factors influence safe supervision in busy work settings.
- Understand the impact of leadership on safety culture.
- Discover how your actions can promote dignity and respect.
- Reflect on your role in ensuring the well-being of your team.
The Bridge: Originally commissioned by the HSA, this workshop has been delivered for many clients including private companies and local authorities across Ireland. It explores exclusion at work with a particular focus on workplace bullying. It encourages open discussions to better understand the issue and provides advice for both leaders and employees on handling it.
Key takeaways:
- Gain a deeper understanding of the human and organizational factors in workplace bullying.
- Learn effective ways to address these issues.
- Examine your role in creating a culture that protects against risks.
Our DEI workshops are designed to be eye-opening and impactful. They highlight the importance of actions and words in supporting diversity and inclusion. Some key areas we explore include:
Awareness of Disabilities: Participants learn about visible and hidden disabilities, emphasizing continuous learning, listening, and empathy. This helps leaders provide the support everyone needs to thrive.
The Role of Leaders: Leaders set the tone for an inclusive workplace. Our workshops offer insights on how to create an environment where everyone can succeed through active listening and respectful conversations.
External Factors Impacting Engagement and Performance: Understanding these factors is crucial. Our workshops teach how to have empathetic conversations about them, ensuring team members feel supported.
Active Presence and Listening: We stress the importance of being genuinely present. Leaders learn to pay attention to both words and body language, ask open questions, and engage meaningfully with their teams.
Detaching from Performance Metrics: Our training encourages leaders to focus on individuals’ well-being without any hidden agenda, making personal interactions supportive and authentic.
We recently delivered a session on Dignity and Respect for Kilkenny County Council at their April conference. Our team are pictured above after the successful workshop.
We’re really proud of the impact these workshops are having and can’t wait to see more positive changes in the workplaces we engage with.
